AC Condensers

What is an AC Condenser?

When it comes to semi-trucks or construction equipment, heavy duty truck AC condensers are an important consideration in maintaining the vehicle. These air conditioning condensers are located on the high side of the air conditioning system and are placed directly in front of the radiator. Because of where it’s located, it allows for the refrigerant vapor to travel through the air-conditioning system, thus creating ice cold air for the driver. Continue reading

AC Condenser Replacement

An AC Condenser is a main component within the AC system. For an AC system to work, it needs a gas or liquid form of refrigerant to cool it. The job of an AC condenser is to convert the AC’s incoming refrigerant vapor into a cooled liquid form.

How do you know when to get a new AC Condenser?

Two effects of an AC condenser ready to be replaced are warm air conditioning air that is not as cold as it should be or an air conditioning system that does not work at all.

There are three usual circumstances of dangerous AC condenser failure. The first circumstance is when the tube develops a leak in its build. Made up of tubes and fins, over time the condenser will leak. This is when you have to get a new AC condenser to keep your vehicle’s cab safe from overheating.  The second circumstance is when the refrigerant fluid is not circulated because of a block within the tubes, usually constructed of metallic debris or waste from internal erosion. In this case, the refrigerant will not be able to cool the driver which leads to dangerous circumstances.

The third circumstance is when the condenser fan breaks. If this happens, the vehicle will overheat while the engine is idling with the AC on. This is because the AC condenser is able to generate a considerable amount of heat, which can affect the overall engine temperature enough to cause overheating if there is a broken fan.
